Door sweeps seal the gap between your door and the floor. If a door sweep is worn out, air can easily flow through that gap, affecting your home’s energy efficiency. Door sweeps help block noise too. Before the arrival of winter this year, check your door sweep to see if it needs to be replaced.
Your current door sweep is one of two types: a wraparound sweep or a slide-in sweep. Replacing a wraparound sweep involves removing the door and is a lot easier to do with a helper. A slide-in sweep, on the other hand, can easily be replaced by simply opening the door, removing the worn out weather stripping, and attaching a new one.
