Boosting Your Home’s Curb Appeal with Exterior Doors

When viewing a home’s façade, the exterior doors are an important part of the architecture. Brighter doors will stand out and function as a focal point when paired with a home that has a monochromatic palette. If your home’s color scheme is made up of bolder colors, you can tone things down a bit with a muted exterior door. Whichever way you decided to go, chic front and patio doors are a great way to improve your home’s curb appeal. Read on to find out how you can make the most of your exterior doors.

Design Within Architectural Boundaries

When designing the exterior of your home, it’s great to be creative, but you should take note of the existing design and attempt to work your ideas into the existing structure. Exteriors that are historically accurate will never go out of style. Farmhouse-style homes owe a lot of their features to old-world fixtures, like French doors. In a more modern home, a sliding glass door without a grille will be more suitable. When viewed from within, sliding glass doors are also great at framing your outdoor surroundings and bring in tons of sun, brightening up your indoor areas. If you want to go even more modern, oversized sliding doors paired with picture windows can create a seamless transition from the inside of your home to the outside.

Everyone Likes a Grand Entrance

Want to make a statement with your entry door? You can grab your visitors’ attention and draw their focus to the front door by using a color that contrasts with your trim and siding. If you still want to make a great statement but are worried about being too “loud”, you can choose a door that is a similar hue as your siding, but a couple shades darker to make it pop and stand out.

Add Some Glass!

Full-frame glass doesn’t have to only be for your patio – it can work well in your entryway, too. Adding fanlights and transoms to your front door can change things dramatically, and the extra glass helps open up the space. This brings light into your residence and makes your entrance seem bigger than it really is. If privacy is a concern, choose obscure glass that will conceal the view into your home.
